Planning a big day with a small budget?
Here are seven price-savvy tips for planning a huge wedding with little money!
For many couples the expense of planning a wedding is mind-blowing. They feel that their wedding is one of the most important days of their lives however they debate whether in the long run it is worth the debt and money worries. It is possible to plan a big day on a small budget. With a little bit of flexibility and a lot of imagination, all weddings, regardless of budget can be beautiful, touching and most of all memorable. If you are planning a wedding which is big on love but low on funds, here are seven tips to consider;
1. Skip on the servers! By choosing a buffet style meal, you and your groom can save big bucks! Many wedding venues will have a much lower cost if the meal is self-served and your guests will not mind, in fact most will enjoy the opportunity to mingle with guests who are not seated at their table.
2. Wine not? Many wedding venues will supply wine for each of your guests' dining tables. However, by planning ahead and making your own wine your can skip on the highly priced house wine and pay a minimal corking fee. By adding personalized labels you can even use any unopened bottles as thank you gifts!
3. Get creative! By tapping into your inner-artist you and your groom can add a sentimental touch to your wedding favors. Search online and find a simple craft project! It may take more time than simply picking up store bought favors, but it will have more meaning and will only cost pennies a pop!
4. Do not be fooled by flowers! Flowers are a huge cost when planning a wedding, but opposite to popular belief they are not a necessity. This is especially true for centerpieces. Consider passing on the petals and choosing a thriftier alternative such as lanterns, floating candles or even candy bowls.
5. Stay Local! By choosing local services you and your groom can save a lot of money. If your caterer, florist, photographer and DJ do not have to travel for your wedding their cost will be significantly lower.
6. Go home. A honeymoon suite may be a must-have for many couples but there are alternatives. For example, imagine the bedding you could for the price of one night at a hotel! Your own bed at home could be ultra-luxurious!
7. Big day does not mean big wedding party! By limiting the number of members in your wedding party you can cut down on just about everything from flower bouquets and boutonnieres to travel expenses and meals. Keep the number of groomsmen and bridesmaids to a minimum. Your family will appreciate that you're working with a budget and will understand your choices!
