Planning a Wedding on a Budget – 5 Tips For Brides on a Shoe String Budget

[ad_1]

Planning a wedding on a budget is by no means an easy task. The average cost of a wedding is changing between $ 20,000 and $ 30,000 depending on where you live. That average cost is significantly higher then what most brides and grooms can afford to spend.

In this article we are going to take a look at a few tips that can help save you money on your wedding.

Tip # 1: Set A Realistic Budget

Just because the average cost of a wedding is over $ 20 000 does not mean you have to spend that much. In fact, it is probably pointless to spend that kind of money if you do not have it. Set yourself a tight budget that you realistically can afford. Do not put yourself in a debt that you will struggle to pay off for many years to come.

Tip # 2: Destination Weddings

In theory a destination wedding would cost a fortune. However, if you keep it small and have it in the right location it can be done cheap. For example, a place like Costa Rica may make a very affordable wedding destination.

Tip # 3: Smaller Meal

Do you want a big multi-course meal? Would you prefer to have more guests? This is the decision that you will need to make. You can have more guests by trimming down on the multi-course meal. You can also have a larger meal, but with fewer guests. It is your decision to make.

Tip # 4: Be Aggressive When Negotiating With Vendors

Passive brides are the ones who get stuck paying premium prices. The wedding vendor needs you more then you need them. Their business is based on you making a purchase with them. Do not be afraid to ask for a slight discount. Be certain that you do shop around and compare prices. You should check prices with 3 to 5 different vendors for every item or service that you need.

Tip # 5: Get Family And Friends Involved

Find out who can help contribute to your wedding. Can someone make the cake? Do you know someone who can do your flower arrangements? Do not be afraid to ask. You can always give someone a little money, take them out for dinner, or buy them a gift as a thank you. This is usually much cheaper then paying the normal price. In some cases this could save you a couple thousand dollars.

The most important thing of them all is to get a little creative and think outside the box. You can plan the dream wedding of your dreams even if you are on a super tight budget.
