Shaving Tips For Ultra Smooth Skin

Sleep On It

Although it’s something we do often, shaving does add trauma to the skin. Your skin will need time to rejuvenate and repair itself. Shaving at night helps your skin recoup.

Skin replenishes overnight which is why shaving should be added to your nightly beauty regimen. Why? Because you’re going to a soft, comfy bed. You won’t be exposed to the sun, wind or any other elements. You won’t be moving around as much either so there’s less friction and irritation to your skin. We are constantly moving during the day – running errands, heading to school, and heading to work. When bedtime comes, it’s skin time. This is the time where your skin does what it needs to do to stay healthy.

Go Nude

Yet another reason to shave a night. After shaving, try to wear the least amount of clothes possible. This will also reduce any friction from clothing rubbing against your freshly shaved skin. Let your skin breathe and be free. Not to mention, it may also be therapeutic.

Take a Layer Off

Exfoliating – which is removing dead skin cells – prior to shaving will help reduce shaving mishaps. Exfoliating prepares the skin by creating a smooth and even surface. Your razor will glide over your skin effortlessly. You will endure less nicks, ingrown hairs and razor bumps.

Don’t Be a Two-Timer

Opt for disposable shavers that you can use once and discard. Using a new razor guarantees a clean, sharp blade each time you shave. When razors become dull or weighed down with dead skin cells, they no longer provide that close shave we desire. As a result, we have to run the razor over the same areas multiple times. This causes even more trauma to the skin as well as more irritation, nicks and razor bumps.

Use Baby Oil

There’s something miraculous that happens when your pair a new razor, exfoliated skin, and baby oil. The results are amazing. The key is to apply baby oil liberally over wet, exfoliated skin. This provides a silky barrier between your skin and the razor. The razor will literally float over your skin as you get the closest, most even shave ever. You will experience less nicks and less irritation too.

Shave That Way

Hair grows in a certain direction. For example, the hair on your legs may grow downward. Always, always, always shave in the direction of hair growth. Shaving against the hair can cause major skin issues and can increase skin irritation. Don’t fight against your hair growth. Work with it to achieve a smooth shave.

Seal the Deal

Well. The deed is officially done. You should have uber smooth skin that’s craving moisturization. Although just about any moisturizer will do, I strongly recommend the good (the best) stuff at this point. All the old, dead skin cells were removed during the shaving process. What’s left is skin that will soak up anything you put on it. This is the time to nourish it with healing, anti-aging, and antioxidant-infused oils and creams.
