Definitely you do not have to lose your mind planning your wedding. Your goal is to have a hassle free, and elegant wedding day. Here are few of my tips that you might want to consider.
I have divided the plan into five parts.
On the first part, you have to be ready as early as 12 months before the wedding. At that point, you have to choose a date, the person to officiate the wedding should be reserved. The venue for both the ceremony and the reception is reserved also. The bridesmaids, groomsmen, florist and caterers are listed down also. Lastly, the budget should be realized.
The second part will be for the ordering of the wedding dress. Choosing this option this early, will help you rearrange any last minute changes days before the wedding day itself. This is a bout 9 months before the wedding day. Its also a great time to shop for your wedding ring. Alongside will be the ordering of the bridesmaids dresses, deciding who the photographer or videographer will be. The musicians, a band if necessary and a DJ for the reception. It's a best practice as well setting up a preliminary guest list.
Six months before the wedding, you should be able to book your transportation to the wedding. This is if your planning to celebrate it in a different place and not your hometown. Ordering of the invitations and announcements will also be done this early and possibly deciding on any wedding theme as well. You have to choose also a wedding cake now and decide register for gifts. Most importantly, carefully list down your complete honeymoon plans.
Just twelve weeks before the wedding, there should already be a particular time and date for the rehearsal. Mail in your invitations for you to decide who will be coming over or not. The guest list should also be finalized by then. If there's a need to by tuxedos, that would be the right time as well. It is important also that you will be able to reserve rooms for your out of town guests. Ordering keepsakes and getting a final dress fitting will be considered.
A month before the wedding, I think its time also that your marriage license will be picked up already. Start writing thank you notes and send wedding announcements to the local newspapers if its necessary. Mail in the wedding announcements and pick up your wedding dress and tuxedo. Packing for your honeymoon and confirming reservations will then be made making sure a hassle free trip will be made. At this point, you will be ready to attend rehearsals, which will help you have a smooth flow on your wedding day.
These steps should not be difficult. The only key point is to plan ahead. I'm pretty sure its going to pay off. Anything that will happen along the way, you will be able to know what's going to happen.
