One of the first steps in planning your wedding is finding the perfect wedding location and enjoying the site is available for the day you have planned to get married on. Cost will be another factor and if you are trying to plan a cheap wedding or a wedding that will not break your bank account then you should look for cheaper alternatives then say a country club.
You should have a general idea what type of wedding you'd like. Have always dreamed of a beach wedding or a garden wedding? If you have and know a relative or friend with such a location then you should consider asking if you could use their backyard for your wedding.
Weddings in backyards are old fashioned and maybe especially meaningful. Keep in mind the house does not have to be fancy or huge, as long as the backyard is beautiful and makes a good backdrop to your wedding all should be good.
Even if you are having a backyard wedding there will still be expenses. You will have to rent chairs but even this expense can be worked around by asking your local church or clubs you may belong to if you may borrow some chairs for your wedding. You could also ask relatives who belong to clubs or churches if they could borrow the chairs for you.
If you are going to be hosting a dinner reception, you will also need tables, linens, plates, flatware and depending on what time you are getting married, lighting.
If you do go ahead with a backyard wedding, unless the backyard is in perfect shape you will likely have to chip in to get the site prepared.
Having a backyard wedding is a great way to save some money but there are still additional costs and considerations some of which have been mentioned here. So should you have a backyard wedding or not? If money is the final decider, the best thing you can do is take a pencil to the numbers and figure out if a wedding location would be more or less expensive.
