If you don’t know already, it’s wildfire season in California.

As California is currently battling fires, this couple decided to incorporate the blaze into their destination wedding photos.

Curtis and Katie Ferland from Chicago planned to have their wedding away from the Windy City. They planned their special day in Sonoma County, California, but instead of a picture-perfect day in beautiful wine country, what they got was a little more smokey.

What the couple had not realized was that the Kincade Fire was burning in the area and causing smoke and red skies. The couple went on with their wedding plans, but their photo is what sparked a social media frenzy.

The photo led to a conversation around the current wildfires in California and whether or not this will be the new normal for the Sunshine state.
