Whether you're going to a prom, party, wedding or just a night on the town it's natural to want to look your best. What girl needs an excuse to shop? But when it comes to buying a dress it can be a nightmare and can come with a hefty price tag. So here's a simple guide to finding bargain dresses that do not compromise on style.
1. One method I always employ is grabbing hold of my diary and taking note of my forthcoming events. For example, I had a friend's wedding in summer 2008 so I searched for bargain dresses in the 2007 sales. Nearly all my friends were rushing around at the last minute hunting for a dress and most ended up shelling out a fortune. Formal dresses do not have drastic trend changes like party dresses so no one knew I was 'so last season'! By shopping early, it also meant I was not limited to the same options as the other wedding guests.
2. If you're shopping for your big wedding day, having a ridiculously expensive wedding dress does not make it any more special, it just hurts your pockets! Who asks how much your dress was – no one will know what fantastic bargain price you paid.
Many wedding dresses and wedding gowns go on sale if the designer discontinues the style. Look for the best bargain dresses in the summer – just before designers introduce their new collections for the next year. You may even be lucky to buy a sample wedding dress at a massive discount!
This will not be for some, but it's worthy to note that wedding dresses from charity shops is not as tragic as it sounds. Over 95% of the gowns sold are brand new and originate from catwalk shows and wholesale retailers, bargain dresses at their best!
3. Party bargain dresses are a little trickier because as soon as one style is 'in', you blink and a new style soon replace it. However, there are some styles that never go out of fashion and if your on a budget and searching for bargain dresses then you should keep your eye out for them. The main style that never goes out of fashion is the little black dress – no wardrobe should be without this style.
