Beauty and makeup blogs really really become not only because they allow girls to express themselves and talk about what they love, but because makeup reviews and opinions of real people are needed. Market constantly offers so many new products, that it is so hard to choose what is right for you. Without knowing what others have to say – it is impossible to know the real quality. I am sure you read many makeup blogs, and now you start to wonder yourself: how to start a makeup blog?
There are a couple of things needed to start a beauty review blog:
- Have an idea
- Have makeup products and equipment
- Have proper technology to post your reviews
Lets talk about each one individually so we understand what is what.
1. The makeup blog idea
The idea is not a technical requirement for actual creation of the blog, but rather a determinant of success.
While you may stick with random stuff, having a particular idea will give you targeted audience. Think about it: if you know that Person A always posts about night-out makeup techniques, and you like going out, and Person B posts random makeup stuff, which website you'll visit first?
There are tons of ideas around: celebrity makeup, evening dresses, makeup for glasses, oily skin / hair care products, nail design, etc, etc.
One pitfall is that at some point you may start feeling that you are obliged to post about something. Remember: you do not. Everyone understands and even appreciates that once in a while something different may come up. It is fine. Also, experimenting will help you to find yourself.
2. Makeup products and equipment
This part talks about preparatory work. Which makeup to use for reviews? Use what you have and what you buy. Same applies for cosmetics products. If you are a lover of MAC Cosmetics – talk about MAC. If you buy something new just to try it out – will fit perfectly! When you think about how to start a makeup blog, you probably already have an idea of what products you want to show anyway. This is not a difficult part.
Equipment-wise, you need to have a fairly good camera. Fortunately, it is not that difficult to get one, they are not very expensive. Just make sure that you can make clear pictures in close view. You do not need tens of megapixels, as most likely your photos will be just about 600px wide when published, but photos need to be clear.
3. The blogging technology
This is where most girls see the largest problem. Where and how to start a makeup blog ?
It is not hard to register on wordpress website or blogpost. Yet, this is NOT an ideal solution. Your blog will not be visible, as it drowns thousands of other makeup and cosmetic blogs.
