They say that the average girl begins to dream of her wedding by the time she is ten. That rounds it up to around fifteen to twenty years of planning for the perfect wedding, for most women. Now, when so much of planning and dreaming is involved, would it not help to aid the process with a bit of knowledge?
And what is more integral to a wedding than a wedding gown? Let us take a look at the various kinds of wedding dresses, so that the next time you slip into that dream about your perfect wedding, you will be able to better see yourself in exactly the kind of dress you want.
1. The Ball Gown – This is the typical fairytale dress, the kind that is featured in the Disney movies. It comes with a tightly fitted bodice, and a grand flair from the waist down. This kind of wedding dress is compatible with all body types, but looks best on pear shaped women, because it promises to hide the lower half of the body well.
2. The A-Line Gown – This kind of wedding dress also has a fitted bodice. The skirt, however, falls gently to the ground, in an elegant diagonal. It looks like a capital 'A', and hence its name. This works for all body types.
3. The Trumpet Gown – This wedding dress hugs the upper body as well as the lower, and starts to flair around the mid-thigh. It is a combination of the mermaid cut and the A-line, and woks well on petite body types, such as the hourglass, the athlete, and the banana. It does not become a pear or an apple shaped body.
4. The Mermaid Gown – As can be clearly understood from the name, the mermaid cut wedding gown makes the bride look like an elegant mermaid, with its tight fitting, and the gentle flair from the knee down. This is suitable for hourglass body types, because it accentuates the curves.
5. The Sheath – This is a narrow gown that falls in a straight line from the neck to the floor. It is ideally suited for thin and petite women. Pear shaped and plus size figures will not benefit from this wedding gown.
6. The Tea Length Gown – This kind of wedding dress has a 'young girl' look, with its wonderful skirt. It flairs out from the waist to the knee, giving an appearance of youthful appeal.
