A wedding is certainly the most beautiful day of a person's life, but that does not mean it needs o be the most expensive day too. The expenses of a wedding largely depend on the location, the food and beverages served and of course, the number of guests. In most cases the cost of the bride's dress and her accessories like the veil, the flower bouquet, the jewelry and hair and make-up also amount to a large portion of a wedding budget. And the bridegroom's attire can be very expensive too. But on top of these, other expenses like dresses and accessories of the bride's maids, best men, flower girls and pageboys, invitation cards and thank-you cards, cakes, decorations and flower arrangements can be very pricey to a couple and their families.
An easy method of cutting down on such expenses is making important but expensive things like flower bouquets and cards by yourself. Not only does this make a wedding less expensive, it will also make it more enjoyable, memorable and unique. The card you make at home will surely appeal to your visitors more than any card you buy at a store and it will also add beauty to your wedding diary.
Making cards at home is easy and very cheap. You could get a basic text printed on to the card using your home computer or with the assistance of a professional. After that all you need to do is get together with some creative friends and add the design to the card using stamps, glitter, ribbons etc.
Flower bouquets and flower arrangements are also some of the easiest things you can make at home. However, using fresh flowers means you will need to make the arrangements a few hours before he wedding. This is fine if it is a small wedding and you have enough time and a lot of friends and family members to help you. But if not, you can always resort to using dried flowers, as you can prepare these a few days ahead of your wedding. Using plastic flowers is also a good and cheap alternative. Beside, table and hall décor need not always consist of flowers. Anything ranging from candles, pebbles, stones and twigs to pieces of different materials like crepe, tissue, net and silk and anything else that tickles your fancy, with a bit of metallic spray, is bound to look quite wonderful.
There are various do-it-yourself ideas for bridal dresses. If you are good at handling needles and scissors you could even sew your very own dress. But for those of you who are not so confident, there is an easier alternative: You could buy a cheap wedding dress without any fancy do and convert it to a fairy tale gown using only your creativity and some basic stitching skills. You could incorporate other materials like silks, organza and other inexpensive things like sequins, pebbles and ribbons.
