Beautiful Eyes – Making The Most Of Your Eyes With Well Applied Make-Up

Eyes are the windows to the soul, so make the most of them. A good mascara is essential. Choose one that you like and goes on easily. If your eyes tend to water a bit, a waterproof mascara could be just what you need, however, try to ensure that you can remove it easily as it can take your eyelashes with it!

For paler eyes, especially green or hazel, brown is a soft option. If you have gray or blue eyes a dark navy might make a nice change. For fair haired people with very pale lashes, having them dyed is also a good option.

Eye-shadows are made in every color in the rainbow, and a whole lot more. There are creams, powders and pencils, and once again it's personal preference that counts. However, it's important to be aware of a couple things.

Pencils should be very soft so that they do not pull the skin. They are very useful as they do not take up much space, but they can leave a harsh line and the color sometimes sinks into the creases of the eye. That goes for pearlised or satin finishes too, they will accentuate any lines. Use a cotton bud to blend the eye shadow once it is applied, and avoid colors that detract from the eye's natural hue.

Eyebrows need to be tidy, but do not over-pluck them, because after a while they're stop growing. If they need defining, use a brush with a mat eye shadow or a very soft pencil. If you are unsure, a make-up session in a store can cost you nothing if you buy a couple of products, and skin care salons will give you good advice and show you how to apply the make up too.

Color check list:

* Blend eye shadow well in to avoid harsh lines.

* Brown or black eyes require beige, copper, taupe, ochre, brown, deep purple, sage green and charcoal.

* Blue or gray eyes need primrose, pale coral, apricot, taupe or plum. To add emphasis try lilac, violet and lavender; while beige and mid-brown give depth in the socket line.

* Green and hazel eyes are enhanced by tints of aubergine, oyster, primrose, ochre, beige, apricot, cream and light brown.

* If you use a kohl pencil, remember that it can 'bleed' causing a build up in the corner of the eye, so check your eyes occasionally.

Glasses.

Dorothy Parker is famous for saying, 'Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses,' although these days some people wear glasses with clear lenses simply as an attractive fashion accessory. But the wrong shape of glasses can spoil the prettiest face. However much you may like a particular style, make sure it suits you before you buy what can be an expensive item. The top of the spectacles should be in line with your eyebrows, and the bottom should be no lower than the top of your cheek bones. If in doubt ask your optician for advice.

Eyes should be checked regularly, as they are an early warning system for a number of ailments, glaucoma and high blood pressure among them. If you wear contact lenses, make sure you keep them really clean or they can cause permanent damage to the eyes.
