Bridal Blemishes

[ad_1]

Stupid Zit! Of course you knew it would happen. The entire week leading up to the wedding had seen nothing but clear, vibrant skin but the inescapable “wedding day” pimple just had to pop in to ruin your picture perfection! I have done extensive study on this very subject, being prone to major break-outs before important events, and I wanted to share my gathered information with you. Most of the searches I have done resulted mostly in advertisements for all the major on-the-spot acne creams: Biore Blemish Cream, Neutrogena Spot Treatments, Clean & Clear, Noxema, Clinique……the list goes on. I personally prefer a more natural approach when it comes to my face as some of those chemicals create more of a problem than help if one has a sensitive complexion. However, I can definitely understand the situation and when you have a crisis sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, in which case I really like Neutrogena and Aveeno products.

If you’re on a time crunch and need to get rid of unsightly blemishes FAST, here are a couple chemical free ‘on the fly’ remedies. Some you may know, some you might not but you should have most of these products lying around somewhere.

Ice – Works wonders! Not only does it bring down the swelling around the affected area but also helps reduce pore size everywhere else for a flawless close-up ready complexion.

Hot Washcloth – The heat helps to drain the infected area. Can also be used as a calming treatment for stressed bride syndrome. Apply multiple times (if you have the time) and add some witch hazel, rose water, or lemon extract to get the most out of this relaxing remedy.

1 tsp Lemon Juice/1tsp Ground Cinnamon – Make a paste and apply directly to infected area. Leave on for a couple minutes or until dry and wash off with warm water. If possible use fresh lemon juice , the fresher the better!

Crushed Garlic – Not recommended for the day of the wedding as I’m sure you would prefer to have your groom closer than arms length, but can be used effectively the day before. Take whole cloves and crush/chop them and apply. Should be used 1-2 times a day.

Hemorrhoid Cream – I know I said chemical free remedies, but I liked this one so much I had to list it. It’s sounds really funny but I had read about it in more than one place and some people swore by it. The same chemical that brings down the swelling…….there…..does the same thing to a pimple. It works pretty quickly and no one needs to know!

Extracts – The best ones are lemon peel, orange peel, mint, strawberry leaves and tea tree. These all can be purchased ready-to-go at most grocery stores, specialty health food shops or you can extract the juice yourself with a little work.

Cucumber – Grate and apply to face like a mask. Leave on for fifteen minutes. Cools the skin and refreshes while toning. Some break-outs occur simply from over treatment and this can be used as a preventative measure for tired skin.

Purse Remedies

If you dig all the way to the bottom I’m sure you’ll find at least one of these quick zit-blasting wonders

Visene – Removes the redness for easier cover-up application

Carmex – Not just any ol’ chapstick will do.

Toothpaste – Just a dab, wash off after a couple minutes and see a difference.

Asprin – Crush a couple and add enough water to make a paste.

Shaving Cream – I carry shaving cream in my purse, don’t you? A little goes a long way. Dry’s out the area for better makeup application
