Choosing Comfortable Shoes to Match Your Wedding Gown

[ad_1]

Once you've decided on the perfect cheap wedding gown, you must now choose the best shoes for your special day. You may have a picture in your mind of the shoes you would love to wear, but actually finding the best fitting, most comfortable shoes is not nearly as simple as it looks. Did you know that 87% of American women wear shoes that hurt 29% of the time, at least 1 time a week? Likely because they do not understand how to find a pair of shoes that fit properly. Before all else, you must be comfortable on your wedding day! After you determine the best color and style of shoes that suit your cheap wedding gown, keep the following tips and statistics in mind:

Foot Ailments

Spending prolonged periods of time in ill-fitting shoes can result in a number of medical issues. If you suffer from any of these ailments, now is the time to change your shoe-buying ways!

Hammertoe-The joint of the toe becomes stiff with a claw-like appearance; left untreated, the affected toes can become rigid. Hammertoe most often a result of wearing shoes that are too narrow or have extremely pointed toes.

Bunion-Enlargement of the tissue around the joint at the base of the big toe; the intense pain affects mood and the ability to socialize. 55% of American women suffer from bunions caused by ill-fitting shoes.

Neuromas-Painful thickening of nerve tissue in the forefoot; most often affecting the 3rd & 4th toes.

Tailor's Bunions -Also called bunionettes, these bunions form on the outside of the foot at the base of the little toe.

Plantar Fasciitis-Irritation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot; often the cause of heel pain. Caused by repetitive activities like walking or running. Be warned: dance lessons can trigger plantar fasciitis as well!

Treatment of Foot Woes

Typically, the treatment for each of these foot maladies is anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or aspirin. Applying ice to the affected area (s) for 15-20 minute discussions with 45 minutes between applications has also proved effective for pain relief. Using toe-spacers or toe sleeves to ease the pain of hammertoe also prevails the build-up of calluses. For plantar fasciitis, stretching the foot and deep tissue massage have both proven effective treatments.

Before you consider surgical intervention for bunions (known as a bunionectomy), consider this: of over 230,000 bunion surgeries performed in 2010, approximately 10% -30% of patients had significant complications (infection, nerve damage, ongoing pain and recurrence).

Shopping for Shoes

Regardless of the style shoe you choose for your cheap wedding gown, it is essential that the shoes fit properly. Before even trying shoes on, have your foot measured by a trained professional. Chances are that over time, your feet have grown longer and wider since the last time you were measured.

To insure proper fit:

The edge of the shoe box (front of shoe) should be 3/8-inch to 1/2-inch longer than your longest toe when standing.

If you have bunions, the best style for your feet are round, square or open-toe shoes.

From a standing position, be certain that the widest part of the shoe is as wide as the widest part of your foot.

Check heels for minimal slippage.

Make sure that you can fully extend every toe when standing up.

Do not buy shoes expecting they will stretch to fit-if the shoe does not fit when trying it on, it will never fit properly!
