Colored wedding gowns are the third most searched for category on Google right now under wedding gowns. Why? Because many brides want to incorporate either their favorite color, or the color of their bridesmaids gowns into their bridal dress.
It all started with one of the top designers adding a strip of color to the back of a dress and carrying it out in embroidery throughout the gown. While this style is still popular today, it is almost too common place. So if you are the type of bride that wants to add color, but does not want to be like every one else, then here are some suggestions just for you.
A very popular way to add color to your gown is by using a sash. Sashes can be anything from the very simple, to the very bold. But a sash is definitely a great way to add your favorite color to your dress without going overboard.
Because colored wedding gowns continue to attract attention, another way to have a beautiful dress with color is to pick a color that is very soft or one you will not regret later. Something like an ice or pale pink is nice. Often times a layer of lace over a colored matte satin will just give your gown a "hint" of color. But will still not be overbearing.
The key to getting colored wedding gowns that you'll still be happy with in years to come as you glance over your wedding photos is to consider "how much is too much". We have brides that say that they love color, but know of friends who went with a bolder palette only to later regret it. Because this is a trend right now, you have more choices than ever as far as styles go that allow the opportunity to have accents of color.
Think about it this way, in the 80's and 90's yellow gold wedding rings were way more popular than white gold or platinum. Now, White Gold and Platinum (which really are the classics) are more popular with brides than ever.
A really great way to add a hint of color is to use silver as an accent color. There are some very popular styles available that actually have gorgeous silver embroidery with seed pearls and sequins. It can be as subtle or as bold as you like. But if your wedding rings are being done in white gold or platinum, silver embroidery can be transported through the theme of your wedding, right down to accents on your linens. This is very classy and you probably will not regret it 25 years from now!
