Eight Things to Avoid When Planning Your Wedding

[ad_1]

While not long ago, going for cheap or used wedding dresses was almost a sin, it's a wise idea in times of economic crisis. Other traditions have changed: it is not compulsory to tell the bride's parents about the wedding before telling the groom's. You can also have a wedding celebration during the day rather than at night. However, there are some mistakes you most certainly want to avoid.

1. No personal touch.

A wedding -any celebration, in fact- must show at least a glimpse of the hosts' personalities. Each couple has a story to tell, and why not, a character, and a behavior. This is hard to demonstrate at a party, of course, but your party should reflect your life. That way, it will be more interesting -and fun.

2. Spending a lot.

A wedding on a budget is definitely not less fun. It's, actually, most of the times, a great wedding. Why? Because you'll put a lot more thought and creativity to it. In many aspects of life, being on a budget makes you try new ways of solving things. So do not worry if you are tight with money: get creative!

3. Losing focus.

The wedding ceremony is actually the main event. The reception and party are extra, in a way. Sure, they are the fun part of the whole thing, but do not lose sight of the main ceremony: make it unforgettable.

4. Not meeting the MC of ceremony and the MC of Reception Beforehand.

This is a very common mistake. They are the keys to a successful wedding. You should meet with them before the ceremony and agree on some basic points.

5. Forgetting weather.

"That's not going to happen to me", is a common thought. Too common. And very unproductive. Thinking that it will not rain on your wedding is plain absurd. Always have an alternate location for such a case, especially if you're having an outdoor wedding.

6. Forgetting about your budget.

Even if you're controlling how much you spend, it's always tricky. There are usually extra charges you did not even think about. That's why daily control of the budget when planning a wedding is the wisest thing to do. If you know how to create spreadsheets in Excel, then do it; it will save you a lot of time -and money.

7. Partying the night before.

Sure, you want to enjoy your last night as a bachelorette / bachelorette before going to the altar. But do not push it. You've had your party before. This last night, go out, sure, but be conservative: you do not want a hangover on your wedding day.

8. Not being empathetic with the guests.

It's your party, of course, but your guests are the main ingredient that make it so special that day. That's why when setting a date, location, and ways to get there, think about the guests. Also, make sure the food is good and that they are comfortable through the celebration.

These are usual mistakes we make when planning weddings. Also, make sure both of you plan it – together: a common mistake is that either either or the other wants to take charge and neglects the other. Both have to be comfortable with every arrangement made. That way, there will be no hard feelings in the future.
