Permanent make up is growing in it's popularity. And that's not so strange since the average woman spends hours a week in front of a mirror putting on make up. What a waste of time! Would not it be much easier if your make up was permanent? But how permanent is permanent make up? This article will show some of the factors that influence the 'permanentness' of the make up.
Permanent makeup is similar, but also very different from tattooing. With this treatment the ink, or pigment, does not go as deep under your skin as with getting a tattoo. It will be placed, with a very tiny needle, just under the top skin. That's why a permanent makeup treatment is not so bad as getting a tattoo done. But that is also the reason why this 'cosmetic tattooing' is not so permanent as the name would suggest.
Because permanent make up is put just under the upper layer of the skin, long and direct sunlight (UV) makes that your perfectly drawn eyebrows could fade after a while. Another factor that will cause your pigment to fade away is when you scratch or cut your skin by accident. Since we have the ability to regenerate new skin, a cut or scratch will set that process in motion, which will have a negative effect on your permanent make up. So if you are in a situation (work or something else) where you are exposed to many and direct sunlight, please know that this will have it's effect on the time that your ink fades.
Luckily many permanent make up salons offer you 'touch ups' where you can make an appointment to redo your eyebrows, lips or other make up wishes. Remember to do some good research (on the internet or at the salons in your neighborhood) before you actually get a treatment done.
Also there are many types of skin type. Your specific skin type has influence on the period of time that your make up treatment will be bright and natural looking. If you have a very light and thin skin, than your make up will look very bright in the beginning. But since the pigment is very close to the top layer of the skin it will fade much quicker compared to someone with thicker skin.
Last but not least: the equipment used for putting on for example a permanent lipliner can differ per salon. Make sure that you go to the salon who have the right papers. Most salons invest in quality equipment, but still it can not hurt to be good informed!
