Natural Beauty Tips to Keep You Healthy

[ad_1]

Drugstores and department stores offer countless lotions and potions to enhance our beauty, and many are wonderfully effective. However, not everything that makes us beautiful has to come from a store! Here are some natural beauty tips to keep you healthy and glowing.

Why do we resist sleep so much? Sleep is such an essential part of our lives and we treat it as an inconvenience! A good nights’ rest gives our skin life, our eyes clarity and banishes dark circles. And what happens when we’re tired? We drink gallons of coffee! Caffeine is a diuretic, which means it sucks the water out of our cells. Our skin looks saggy and wan. Keep hydrated! We’ve all heard by now that the “eight to ten” glasses a day is a myth but personally, I find I feel so much better when I’m drinking lots of water and I can see the difference in my skin. At the very least it helps keep you filled up and not drinking other beverages that may be unnecessarily high in calories.

Did your mom ever wash her hair with beer? That was a beauty tip from the seventies that was supposed to deliver bouncy hair full of body. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to try it, but I’m not sure I’d like my head to smell like a brewery all day. Apple cider vinegar is a perhaps less fragrant alternative! Dilute a couple of tablespoons in water and rinse your hair with the mixture after you shampoo for extra-clean, shiny hair. It also works to eliminate buildup from conditioner and styling products. Don’t do it too often, once a week or so should give you the results you’re looking for.

Here’s a great natural beauty tip: if your fingernails and toenails have a yellowish tinge from months and months of nail polish application, soak them in lemon juice. That will take away that icky looking hue. It’s a good idea to leave your nails alone and unpolished every so often. Leaving the chemicals and acetone off them for a while will allow your nails to grow and strengthen between polishing.

We also need to remember that what you put in your body is reflected on the outside. You always need a balanced diet, lots of dark leafy greens and fruits – all contain compounds that nourish our skin, hair and nails. Some healthy fats are essential as well. A diet too devoid of fat leaves hair and nails brittle and skin lackluster and dry. So many skincare creams and lotions contain vitamins and food extracts, but we need to remember that putting those things directly into our bodies is also incredibly important to keep us beautiful.

Perhaps the most important of all natural beauty tips is this: you are only as beautiful as you feel. It sounds cliché but it is just truth. Confidence can’t be bought, can’t be bottled and can’t be feigned. Nothing is more attractive. When you feel beautiful, you are. Let your inner light shine through and you will always glow.
