Trend Alert – Designer Bridesmaid Dresses

[ad_1]

There are many notable names in fashion who also design wedding gowns and designer bridesmaid dresses. Among these names are Vera Wang, Alexander McQueen, Simone Carvalli, and Elie Saab.

Although there are an infinite number of designers, these are among the most recognized and revered designers. The Vera Wang collection for 2010 places an emphasis upon floor length gowns and knee length gowns. Most of the gown colors are in hues of deep purple, dark navy blue, and various shades of brown. However, the knee length dresses are in shades of champagne, lilac, and white. A primary feature of this collection is the ribbon sashes that can be found at the waistline of each dress. The necklines tend to be of the halter or sleeveless variety.

This season, Alexander McQueen's 2010 designer bridesmaid dresses tend to be as fanciful and imaginative as his other creations. On the runway, his dresses were primarily comprised of chenille and silk. Lace overlays in hues of red and royal blue were prominently displayed through the collection. Underskirts of tulle and feathers lent the gowns full-bodied skirts. The gown's lengths varied from knee to floor. Simone Carvalli's collection tended to follow the season's trends in terms of length. Her dresses were almost all unanimously strapless. Her color palette was rather unusual, with the primary colors being hues of ivory and off white. They lacked the full bodied aspect of McQueen's gowns, opting to be rather stream lined.

Elie Saab's designer bridesmaid dresses were in various hues of pastels, such as pinks and blues. The fabrics were primarily tulles, laces, and organza. Saab's dresses appeared in a variety of lengths; however, the highest hemline did not rise more than two inches about the knee. The hues and shades of the dresses tend to be somewhat mute in colors of hunter green, deep lilacs, and dark blues. The gowns were free of embellishments. The designer tended to focus more on the dramatic draping of the dresses to draw the viewer's eye to the wearer. The bridesmaid dresses tend to be rather streamlined and flowing. Overall, this year's season is seeing a rise in the usage of muted, dark shades of color. The fabrics being used in the dresses tend to be more matte rather than retaining sheen. Length of the dresses is staying right at the knee or lower, but the necklines of these gowns tend to be across the board.
