Your Wedding Gown – Buy or Rent?

[ad_1]

If you are planning your own wedding, one of the first things to begin thinking about is what you will wear. There are lots of wedding dress designers to choose from and even more dresses and designs to consider. It's no wonder this is such a difficult choice to make.

However there are two main choices to consider at the beginning. Will you buy your wedding dress or rent one for the day? If you are undecided, here are some pros and cons to bear in mind when making this all-important decision.

How much do you have to spend?

Money comes into play with every aspect of a wedding, not least the dress itself. If you have just a small budget to keep in mind, you may be able to afford a better dress if you rent it rather than buying it. For example, if you want a gorgeous dress by one of the best wedding dress designers but you do not have the budget to buy one, you could rent one for a much lower price instead – who would know?

Would you like a designer dress?

There are lots of wedding dress designers around, specializing in making dresses for your big day. If you want something a little different from the normal styles of gowns, a bespoke dress could have the way to go. You will need to buy it outright in this case though, and there will be a larger price tag attached to it, naturally. Always make sure you know what your budget is for the dress before going shopping and do not be tempted to go overboard if you really can not afford it.

Do you want a family heirloom to pass down?

Some women would not dream of renting a gown for their special day because they want something they can pass down to their daughter or other family member when they get married later on. If you want to keep your dress for the future, of course you will have to buy rather than renting it.

Are you likely to need alterations?

Unless you happen to be a perfect size and shape for a particular dress, you will probably find it needs alterations of some kind to give you the perfect fit you want. Wedding dress designers will be able to take your measurements and adjust the dress in many different ways if you elect to buy it. However, if you rent a dress you get what you see – no alterations will be possible. This factor alone could decide whether you buy or rent.

So you see there are several factors to think about before you make this all-important decision. Some women instinctively know whether they want to buy or rent right from the start, however if you are undecided you can look at all the pros and cons before deciding what's right for you.
