5 Ways to Personalize Your Wedding With a Unique "Home Town" Theme

[ad_1]

This week, inspired by my trip to my home state of Alabama, I realized that one way to personalize your wedding and come up with a unique theme is to incorporate elements from the city and / or state you and and / or your fiance are from. The finished product will be a wedding design that is truly unique and representations who you are as a couple. There are endless ways of infusing this theme into your wedding and I hope the 5 tips below inspire you to think of other ways to bring this theme to life!

1. Incorporate your home state flowers

What's your home state flower? This is a great way to add a special "touch" to your wedding arrangements. You can include your flower in your centerpieces, your bouquet and even in your ceremony floral arrangements.

2. Name your tables after your favorite areas or cities from your home state

Remember the local cities and areas you would travel to with your family when you were growing up? Why not name your tables after those cherished places? Easily print out the table names on your home computer and insert them into large photo frames that fit in with your decor and place them on your guest tables. Or you can have the cards professionally printed for a more polished look.

3. Photography backdrops for your guests enjoyment!

There is nothing more exciting as a guest at a wedding than to actually be involved in some way in the day's festivities. Engage your wedding guests by providing photo station / area at the reception (or during cocktails) where they can take professional photos in front of a backdrop that lies into your "home town" wedding theme. You can even provide the frames and let them take their photos home as a memento.

4. What is your home state "known for"?

A specific fruit? A certain type of culture? A famous saying? A renowned dessert? All states have a "claim to fame" so in most cases you'll find it pretty easy to incorporate that element into your wedding theme. You can center your entire theme on your home state's claim to fame, or just add in small design elements reflecting "the thing" in your centerpieces, table numbers, guest favors or cake design. Here's an idea: do a Google search for "what is known for" you'll get a ton of great ideas this way!

5. Incorporate elements from your favorite child dinner into your wedding menu

Everyone has a favorite meal his or her mother or grandmother used to make as a child that makes your mouth water just at the thought of it! The easiest way to customize your wedding menu is to think about your childhood favorites and then ask yourself if they can be customized to fit into your wedding. You'll have to use a bit of discretion with your menu and make sure your menu is in line with the formality of your event. You would not want to serve spaghetti and meatballs at a formal served dinner -as not all childhood favorites are appropriate for formal sit down dinner … or maybe you do, but I would rather advise against it – I can not think of anything more horrendous then trying to get spaghetti stains out of your wedding dress!

My suggestions would have to have a brainstorming session with your fiance and even your family members to come up with additional ways to add the "hometown" element to your wedding – I'm sure you'll be surprised at how many creative ideas you ' ll come up with as a group 🙂
