Now that you have become engaged one of the most important decisions facing you is choosing a wedding date. This may seem harder than finding the right person to marry, but if you take some things into consideration it may make the process a bit easier.
Some couples choose to commemorate the day that they first met or had their first date, or a date that may never happen again with all the numbers being the same. While all of these ideas seem romantic, it may not be possible with every scenario. If you choose a date that is special to you as a couple it may not fall on a weekend which is when most weddings take place. Although this may pose an obstacle for some, for others it may not matter which day of the week they are married. If you have your heart set on a date be prepared for any scheduling problems that you may experience.
Choosing the right time of year is also something that may factor into your wedding date. Many brides prefer to have a summer or spring wedding when everything is fresh and in bloom. Keep in mind where you are planning to be married, sometimes the weather can be unpredictable and may pose problems that you did not consider when you first chose the date. Having a summer wedding in the middle of a heat wave will be uncomfortable for you and your guests. If you are familiar with the weather in your area throughout the year this may be important to consider when choosing your date. The weather will also affect your location, if you're planning an outdoor wedding be prepared for any weather conditions that may be typical for your area.
If your budget is a concern you may want to consider choosing a date when everyone else is not getting married. Typically June, August and September are the most popular month's to get married. By choosing a date that is not popular with other couples, you may find that the rates are less and it will be easier finding a location and caterer. By choosing an off season date you may have a much less stressful planning experience.
All in all, it is your wedding date and you should choose a date that is important and meaningful to you as a couple. But by following some of these tips you may come across a date that will be more beneficial to your planning needs.
