While Disneyland retains the name the happiest place on earth, a trip to visit Disneyland can sometimes feel like a trip to visit the most expensive place on earth! Despite this fear, Disneyland can be done on a frugal budget. Here's how to get the most out of every dollar saved for a Disneyland trip.
The tickets to Disneyland are the first expense you see, and they are the first ones to work on for your budget. There are two ways to combat entrance fees to the park: coupons and sales.
Coupons can be found online or through other businesses. Currently, Disneyland is doing a free ticket promotion in exchange for service. Those that volunteer for a full day of service at a participating service organization will receive a free ticket to Disneyland. More information on this and other coupon promotions is available on the Disneyland webpage. Many other coupons are for low-traffic days. These are days mid-week, off-season, which are not typically the typical time to travel. If you find a coupon for a time like this take it! The park is even better to visit with the family when it's not packed with a tourist crowd.
There are periodic sales for Disneyland tickets. Again, information on these sales will be found at the Disneyland website.
If you do not live close enough to day-trip to Disneyland, look at hotel alternatives. While the Disneyland vacation packages have many perks, it'll be cheaper for you to find a hotel in a nearby city and drive to the park. The kids will be so enthralled with the park itself that the hotel they stay in will be no more than a place to rest their head. Make sure to price check hotels within a half-hour radius, since the prices will go down a little further away from the park.
Driving to the park yourself will help you avoid shuttle fees, as well as keeping the general travel costs down. Disneyland has ample parking, and a shuttle even runs through the parking lots to help limit walking.
Once at the park, refrain from buying princess Disney costumes at the park. The Disney Store prices on princess Disney costumes can be high, and it is best to look for alternative places to purchase Cinderella princess costumes and Snow White princess costumes. There are many online stores that sell certified princess Disney costumes.
You may want to do the Cinderella princess costume shopping before the trip begins. That way your daughter can be dressed as her favorite princess, like a Snow White princess, before entering. This will reduce opportunities of impulse buying a more expensive costume.
Pack sack lunches and snacks for everyone headed to Disneyland. The food at any amusement park is expensive. Eat breakfast before leaving, and at least pack lunches and snacks-that way there is not a need for much, if any, food to be purchased at the park itself. Water bottles are also critical, since little Cinderella princess and Snow White princesses get thirsty easily!
