Do You Want Ideas for Your Christmas Wedding Attire?

[ad_1]

As we head toward Christmas, wedding dates have been set, or are being set, and your wedding attire is on your mind; you want to make the day and time of year as perfect for you as possible.

Of course, wedding attire is not all about the bride and her dress – well, it is but everyone else in the bridal party needs to look good too!

So, there are many other people you have to consider. Like the bridesmaids dresses, of course that's a given, but what about the and groomsmen's attire.

Sure, you're going to remember the groom's tux but did you think about the flower girl's dresses or a special dress for the your mother; certainly you want the bride's mother to look amazing too.

And, do not forget to think about your reception attire, many brides now change out of their gown into something more comfortable; it also helps protect the gown.

A bit more to think about that you actually thought but have no worries because I have some great ideas to help you choose your dress AND make sure the rest of your bridal party looks good, maybe not quite as good as you but still good.

Your Bridal Dress

Start with the fabric, it should be luxurious, trendy and weather appropriate (that is, it needs to be warm).

The best choices are to go with gorgeous velvets, brocades, taffeta, or matte satin, any of which would look fabulous and not have you shivering at the altar.

For a Christmas wedding, or other winter weddings, it's better to have a long dress and trains and full sleeves work very well and are very elegant; you can always change into something sexier later for the reception if you like that look.

Now, let's turn to color for the holiday season.

Of course, white or ivory is still the most popular color, but many bride's are now opting for color in their wedding dresses.

Good Christmas colors are dark pinks, burgundy, ice blue or aqua, shades of green or even red.

If that's too much for you but you'd still like a little style and color the go with a traditional white wedding dress but add touches of the Christmas colors as accents.

Some of the really wonderful ways to make your dress speak more of the season and holiday is to trim your dress in faux fur or wear a faux fur capelet and carry a matching muff with a spray of holly and baby's breath attached to it.

Another idea is to wear a velvet cape with a hood in a dark green, red or burgundy; again, try it with a velvet muff to match.

A simpler but also lovely way to use your holiday theme is to wear a holiday colored sash at the waist and let the ends flow down the back.

If you are a thoroughly modern day bride then a birdcage veil might be just the thing for you.

But, if you are wearing a classic ball gown you'd probably prefer a dress with a train and include a luxurious cathedral-length wedding veil.

For fashionable brides, a wedding veil studded with rhinestones is the perfect Christmas wedding veil choice.

Adding gloves is very elegant, and oh so regal Audrey Hepburn, and they have the added benefit of keeping your hands warmer in a colder winter climate.

I'd suggest close-toed shoes but strappy shoes are always great looking and popular and you can put them on for the ceremony and / or reception and wear something warmer before and after.

Groom's Attire

Now that we have you taken care of let's look at the person who'll be standing the next to you saying "I Do!"

The groom's attire depends upon the kind of wedding you're having and the time of day, so let's look at it in those terms:

  • For an Informal Wedding: The normal groomswear for an informal wedding is a business suit with a white dress shirt and tie; the shirt color is not fixed although and make sure the tie matches the suit and looks good.
  • For a Semi-formal, Daytime Wedding: The groom will usually wear a formal suit, a white dress shirt, a cummerbund or vest, and a four-in-hand or bow tie.
  • For a Formal, Daytime Wedding: Now we start to get really fancy with the groom wearing a cutaway or stroller jacket, a waistcoat, striped trousers, a white, wing-collared shirt, a striped tie, studs and cufflinks.
  • For a Formal, Evening Wedding: The groom wants to be as elegant as possible and will wear a black dinner jacket, matching trousers, a waistcoat, a white tuxedo shirt, a bow tie, cufflinks, and a cummerbund or vest.

To add a Christmas touch, your groom can add a touch of whimsy by wearing Santa or candy cane cufflinks for an informal wedding or, for a more formal wedding, the groom can wear a red, green or metallic-brocade vest, or cummerbund and tie, with studs and cuff links in the shape of Christmas trees or candy canes for a more formal affair.

The cummerbund is an excellent way to coordinate with the season and your wedding colors.

You can match it's color to any wedding color accent to your wedding dress, match it to the a sash or accent on the bridesmaids dresses or even match it to the bridesmaids dresses themselves.

Bridesmaids Dresses

For your Christmas wedding bridesmaid dresses should be long dresses as they seem to evoke the Christmas mood much better than a shorter dress; for a little pizazz and Christmas you can also add sparkling wedding dress accessories and long wraps to the dresses of the bridesmaid.

The colors of your bridesmaid dresses should match the Christmas / winter season as well as fit into your wedding theme colors; you can choose festive red, silver, gold, forest green, midnight blue or ice blue as examples.

Team up the dress with cranberry, hunter green, ice blue, black or midnight blue colored silk scarves, gloves, shoes and hats as accessories.

Plan your bridesmaid dresses so they can use them for a long time to come; they will be grateful to you each time they wear them.

Groomsmen's Attire

This is easy; usually the groomsmen wear the same tux or suit as the groom, but will wear a different color vest, cummerbund, tie or shirt than the groom. It depends on how informal or formal the wedding is and what the wedding theme colors.

Flower Girl Attire

Your flower girl's dress should complement your dress, it can be white or ivory, or the same color as the bridesmaids dresses.

If her dress is white, a colored floral accent may be used to tie it in with the bridesmaid dresses, this could be a sash at her waist or a little capelet.

Remember, children grow very quickly and even if the child has been in the same size for six months, a growth spurt can happen at any time. So get their wedding attire as close to the wedding date as possible (2-4 weeks is usually best).

Since Christmas is cooler (and downright frigid in the northern climates), tights are great for a cold weather wedding.

For shoes pick a ballet slipper style in kid or patent leather; no high heels or styles that will be uncomfortable or difficult to walk in.

Ring Bearer's Attire

You will want to get the ring bearer's attire as close to the wedding party's attire as possible; matching it closely to the groomsmen is always a good choice and they'll look so cute!

Toddlers look best in a lightweight tux, even in the cooler months. Layers of heavy shirts, cummerbunds and vests, ties, and jackets can look fussy and be uncomfortable for little ones and they'll always be fiddling with it and messing it up.

As an easier alternative, you may look for shirts with a built-in half vest and clip on tie.

Older ringer bearers (ages 4 to 10) can often wear a full tuxedo, with tails if that will match the wedding party; tuxedo shops often offer several groomsman styles in a children's size.

Have the ring bearer wear his dress shirt and tie several times before the wedding so he is used to the feel of the formal wear.

You can use the same Christmas touch accents that the groomsmen wear if you want to add that to your wedding.

There you have it!

Some great ideas to help you start looking and getting your Christmas wedding attire together with no last minute stress.

You currently have plenty of time to look for the most inexpensive and the most beautiful wedding attire you can imagine and, of course, have a great time doing it !.
