When it comes to choosing wedding favors there are three things that will determine your final choice – your wedding style / theme; your own personality and your wedding budget. The latter of these will likely be the deciding factor and could see you choosing handmade luxury chocolates or simple candy coated almonds!
If you have set a realistic budget and even have a luxury sized pot of money available, then choosing to make up goody bags for your wedding favors is a great idea. These are basically small gift bags filled with a range of items such as chocolates, candies, candles, food and drink. You can spend a little or a lot on them, but one thing that is important is that you put plenty of thought into the contents to make them special and unique. Here are some ideas for goody bag wedding favors:
Create his and hers versions by choosing a range of items to go in every bag, such as chocolates, candies etc and then adding something male orientated, such as a bottle of hot sauce or homemade beer and something for the ladies such as miniature bottles of perfume or silver plated compacts. You can even color coordinate the bags or add his and hers themed labels.
Go eco friendly and include a range of eco gifts inside. Look out for Fairtrade products such as chocolates, coffee and tea. Include a little book about going green, give some flower or vegetable seeds, include some miniature organic soaps or candles and do not forget to make sure your packaging is made from recycled materials too! For luxury goody bags you will need to look to the upper end of the favors market. Small bottles of Champagne, bottles of perfume, handmade chocolate truffles, silver plated items such as compacts, money clips or key chains and silk scarves and handkerchiefs.
Create goody bags based on homemade products, and to make them even better make the contents yourself. These could include homemade preserves or chutneys, mini cakes or cookies, chocolates, soaps, spotted saches, candles, note cards, and even homemade wine, cider or beer! Give your guests a taste of something local, especially if a large percentage of them are out of town. Look for local delicacies such as cakes, cookies, cheese, beer etc. Add in some guide books, maps, and events guides. And why not make up some fridge magnets with photographs of the local area and personalize them with your names and wedding date?
