Shopping for 'The Dress' is an exciting time for any bride to be and for some can also be a challenging part of the planning of your big day. Looking your most beautiful in your perfect wedding dress is every woman's dream. Many brides are naturally concerned as to how many they should try on before they narrow it down to the 'one' or a few 'maybes'. Upon walking into a bridal shop it can be somewhat daunting as to know where to begin amongst the masses of different skirts, fabrics and sparkles. Knowing how to find the style, fit and look that you are envisaging will help you fulfill your wedding day wishes.
Often many brides have a particular style and look in their mind when shopping for wedding dresses. It is a good idea to try on several different styles including ones that you may not have pictured yourself wearing. What a wedding dress looks like on the hanger or on a mannequin can look totally different with a real person wearing it! By trying on a selection of one or two wedding gowns in each style will assist you in deciding which direction you are heading in, for example strapless, full skirted or empire line. In eliminating the styles that you dislike or that do not work with your body shape will help you narrow down your search, saving you effort and time.
Once you have tried on your selected wedding gowns it is likely that you will have a pile of 'possible' wedding dresses with one or two firm favorites. Try on these wedding dresses again and you will find that you are able to narrow it down even further until you have a couple that tick all the boxes. Now you've narrowed it down to the dresses that could be 'the one' accessorise them with veils and headpieces. Seeing the complete ensemble will help you narrow it down to the dress you will be getting married in.
Of course for some ladies, myself included, as soon as the dress goes on and you catch glimpse of yourself in the mirror you know that your search is over and your wedding dress is immediately gleaming right back at you. No other wedding dress would compare and you have no doubts in your mind that you will be standing saying your vows wearing it.
If you can not make the final decision and need a little time to think before committing to buying it then book a retry appointment. Going back with a new perspective and clear mind or sometimes just sleeping on it is all you need to do before placing your order. If it is a dress being sold off the peg then ask them if they'll hold it for a short period of time for you. This may incur a deposit.
