Tartan Day
This is one of the major occasions where strong countries like the United States, Canada and the UK specifically Scotland, commemorate their strong connections with each other. In the United States, Tartan Day is commemorated every 6th of April and is a national holiday. Commemorating their links with Scotland, towns and cities from the United States and Canada will often enjoy the day with pipe bands with a touch of Scottish culture for instance putting on their national costume — kilts.
Saint Paddy’s Day
Quite familiar with the event? Yes, this is actually the feast Saint Patrick. It’s a cultural and religious occasion which is usually celebrated on the 17th of March. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and the day is considered to be a celebration of the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. You will notice that green colored kilts and costumes are present in this day. Shamrocks and green ribbons are generally a few of the accessories people use to honor this day.
Graduation ceremonies
If abroad suits are worn during graduation, you better watch out every time a Scottish student graduates. They march to the stage dressed in their finest kilts. Held with much importance and value, they believe wearing kilts should be done during significant days in their lives which includes the day they leave the academe.
