Destination weddings can be tons of fun. It's a vacation and wedding rolled into one package– a vacation that even your guests get to enjoy.
The downside of a destination wedding is probably the downside of any vacation: the packing. Exception, since you're putting on a major even (your wedding!), You'll want to make sure you do not forget certain vital items that are important for your special day.
If you are having your wedding somewhere else that requires traveling, you will want to make sure you pack everything you need.
Obviously some things can be bought wherever you go, like shampoo and so forth. Keep in mind that some destinations will charge you an arm and a leg for anything you buy, so this might be an incentive to make sure you pack what you need with you. But you will also have other items that you will have probably custom ordered (like your dress), and you'll want to make sure you are organized enough to not let anything catastrophe happen.
First, make sure you carry your wedding attire with you if you're traveling via airplane. Do not chance your wedding dress with the airlines. What if it gets lost? You would not want that kind of panic to destroy your special day. Just carry it with you. The same thing applies to the groom's attire and really anything that you would not want to find out the airline misplaced. It happens. I went a week without luggage on an international flight and it was not fun.
Also carry important, original documents with you. This should be a given. Keep copies of these important documents in your luggage.
Ultimately it is very essential to create a packing list in advance, go over it, revise it, and stick to it carefully to ensure wedding success.
