Wedding Dresses 101 – Where to Find Your Gown

[ad_1]

From the moment you got engaged you probably started picturing your ideal wedding dress. Some brides to be may have even thought about it well in advance of any proposal. Your first step will probably be scan through a wide range of bridal magazines and online galleries to see if you can find something that matches your image of an ideal gown. Once you have a few potential outfits you think you would like to wear on your day you may think that you are sorted. Now comes the tricky part. Where do you start shopping? Here are a few places to begin your search.

Bridal salons are perhaps the best place to look. They are absolutely the most traditional places to shop and they tend to sell custom made gowns from a wide range of designers. Check your local directories to see if there are any salons near you. You may need to give them a call before you plan to shop as you may very well need to schedule an appointment with one of their sales advisors. As well as gowns these are great places to shop for lingerie, veils, shoes or any other accessories that you may need for your wedding day. You may find that you are lucky and your local salon also hosts trunk shows and sample sales. A trunk show is where a particular designer comes to the store with their newest fashion line for brides to try on. This gives you the advantage of seeing a wide range of offerings not just the products that the store makes to sell. A sample sale is where the dresses that are used for ladies to try on are sold. You can find that you may be able to get massive reductions on price at these sorts of events. The downside to this type of establishment is that it promises to be quite pricey, but you will usually get one to one service with a store representative assigned to deal specifically with you.

Another place that you can look at is a warehouse or outlet store. These kind of sites tend to offer gowns that are out of season or envelopes that are not made by one of the well known designer labels. They are usually quite large places with a lot of dresses on offer hanging on rows upon rows of racks. You will have to do a lot of the work for yourself and look through each rack to find a few items that may be of interest to you. While a warehouse does not offer the same personal service that a salon does you will find that more often than not their prices are much lower.
