Wedding Photographers – Digital Or Film – How to Choose

[ad_1]

Sydney wedding photographers these days seem to be moving more and more over to digital cameras for wedding photography. Although it is still possible to get a photographer that uses film, it seems to be a dying breed. Choosing a professional camera person to capture your special day is really all about your preferences, most will tell you that there is only one choice when it comes to your photos, this is because they normally used only one type of camera before in their history as a wedding photographer. This is why it's so important to shop around before you make your final choice.

Up until very recently it was still very true that film was the best way to shoot wedding pictures, but today's digital cameras have advanced in leaps and bounds, and the methods of processing have become a lot easier. Not that it is recommended that you get your friend to take your photos because he / she has a digital camera and photo-lab software on their computer. Wedding photography is still the domain of the professionals if you want the best results.

Why are digital cameras becoming so popular? That's really easy to answer, a professional that really knows how to use a digital camera, can take a lot more photos and process them for a lot less than a person using film. They have the ability to instantly replay a shot to make sure it's exactly what they wanted to capture, digital camera has so many features that can be accessed by a simple click of a switch. Even in the process of "developing" your photos, there are still more ways that photos taken from a digital camera can be enhanced by, removing unwanted unwanted images, changing shots taken in color to black and white, color enhancement. All these things and more are not possible when using film. Another advantage the digital camera has, is its cost '; whereas a film photographer has to pay for the film and the processing cost. The photographer even shoulders the expenses whatever he likes the picture or not. Digital camera work can be reviewed on a computer when making your choices, any changes you want can be done in front of you, and when everything is complete the photographer only has to hit delete and everything is gone and ready for the next customer at no added expense.

So why would you choose film? Most medium format film cameras will have a higher resolution than those of their digital rivals. These cameras have a feature that take a picture automatically once they have a clear image to shoot. They can capture image in more detail, and light and shadows effects look more. Photo's developed in a professional lab, have a more 3 dimensional appearance. It is professionally processed they seem to be more "real". Another plus is that as long as you keep the negatives with you, it's easy to make copies if anything should happen to the originals. With digital photos you would have to make many back-ups trying to preserve your shots. Film is not affected by the many things that can damage photos stored on a computer.

So, at the end of the day the choice really does lay with you, the ideal situation would be to find Sydney wedding photographers that offer the services of a professional that will shoot in both formats, or at least have both types of camera available on the day, nature is simply unpredictable.
