What's With All the Strapless Wedding Gowns?

[ad_1]

Okay, maybe it's just me, but am I the only person in the world who is sick of strapless wedding gowns? I simply do not get the attraction.

I'm not saying some of these gowns are beautiful, well the bottom half anyway. But why do woman want to give up what is actually their only chance in life to wear something with some sort of elegant sleeve and neck line.

You can call me old fashioned, but I have never understood the immodesty of some of these gowns.

Have you ever heard the story of the Priest, who did not know where to look, when he was preforming the wedding of one couple. It sees the brides strapless gown left her a bit over exposed. It was embarrassing for the Priest and I would imagine for some of the wedding guests as well.

But even with modesty side, a lot of these gowns are more a matter of a missed opportunity for added elegance. It is easy to understand why the dress designers love strapless. Just think of the saved material and labor cost. Of course strapless gowns are not cheaper to buy but certainly have to be cheaper to make.

There is nothing to stop a bride from wearing an elegant jacket or shawl, or under cover, at least for the ceremony but most brides do not choose to do that, instead going for a "the dress stops here look."

I've seen strapless in the winter, in Wisconsin Yet! and I've seen all body types wearing strapless, from the tiny to the overflowing and every thing in between. In most of these cases the bride sufferers from, what I call the "I think my dress is falling off," syndrome; where the bride spends much of her Wedding day pulling the gown up, whether it's necessary or not.

I long for the day of cap sleeves, bell sleeves, tight sleeves, short sleeves … any kind of sleeve at all. And a real live existing neckline, that frames the face or the shoulders or any body part as long as it's above the chest and below the head.

I know finding a wedding dress that has these attributes is not easy but come on future brides UNITE !, demand more material for your money!

In writing this article I attempted to get some pictures of wedding dresses that were not strapless and had actual necklines and guess what ?, with the exception of spaghetti straps the pictures were virtually nonexistent.

Is there anyone out there who is not getting married in a wedding dress, that is sleeveless and necklineless, (is that even a word?)
