7 Unique Ways to Honor Your Mom on Your Wedding Day

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and wedding season kicks into high gear soon after. In honor, here are some sweet ways to include your mom on your wedding day.

1. Include one of mom’s famous recipes on your menu

Simple, homespun menus based on traditional family recipes are totally “in” right now. We’re seeing so many couples feature well-known items on the menu and fresh produce, as opposed to creating an overly gourmet affair. So if your mom makes a to-die-for cheesecake or apple pie, considering adding it to the reception menu. It’s (literally) a sweet way to pay homage to your dear mom!

2. Have your mom walk you down the aisle

Go the non-traditional route and invite your mom to walk you down the aisle with your father. This is one of the most special moments of your wedding and will make mom feel included in a memory that you will carry for the rest of your life.

3. Mother/daughter dance

Another moment where it’s traditionally the father’s time, doing a special dance with your mom is sure to be an emotional one! Take this one step further: instead of doing a slow dance, do a fun choreographed dance, really showing your special bond — and entertaining your guests.

4. “Something borrowed”

Have your “something borrowed” be a special piece from your mom. Perhaps use a piece of her wedding dress as a handkerchief or as fabric for the bottom of your bouquet, or even wear a piece of jewelry she wore on her wedding day.

5. Give Mom a special bouquet or corsage

Mom wants to stand out! Help her feel special by giving her a unique bouquet or corsage, really showing your appreciation for all that she does.

6. Add a special note honoring your mom in your program

Including a sweet note to your mom in the wedding program will not only give her a precious memory she can physically hold onto but will acknowledge your appreciation for her on the big day.

7. Treat mom to hair and makeup

Everyone loves a little glam, especially when it’s a treat! Help your mom feel beautiful and get a little pampered on the big day without her having to worry about the cost.
