3 Tips To Get You Started Planning a Destination Wedding!

[ad_1]

Planning a destination wedding is not nearly as hectic as planning a traditional wedding. While there are several details to consider, it is not nearly as cumbersome as a traditional wedding. One huge factor to consider when planning a destination wedding is the requirements for licensing in the host country. We have a few tips to help you seamlessly plan your destination wedding.

Decide on the type of wedding
A destination wedding can be small and intimate or big and elaborate. The destination can be Las Vegas, Florida or the Virgin Islands. While many hear "destination" and assume a far away destination, this is not always the case. There are many options in planning this type of wedding. In order to narrow down these options, couple has to first decide the type of ceremony they are planning. Do you plan to invite family and loved ones? Will you have an intimate ceremony with just the two of you? What type of place would you like to visit for your wedding? It is not always a hassle to include family and friends on your special day. Many hotels offer complimentary wedding packages when a number of rooms are booked. These packages are often very simple but can be upgraded for a more elaborate package for a fee. If you decide to invite family and friends to share in your day, it is important to plan far enough in advance to allow your guests to plan financially and if necessary reserve time off work.

Decide on your location
As mentioned, destination weddings can occur on a tropical island or in a town 4 hours away from your home town. If planning to invite family and friends, it is best to identify economic lodging options for your guests. Once you have planned your travel details, go ahead and plan for your guests. If you have guests traveling from multiple locations, secure price quotes and details for each city. If traveling to a tropical island or larger city, look for resorts that offer all inclusive packages. All inclusive packages are usually most economic because food, beverages and lodging is all covered upfront. Make sure to give your guests the base package but advice that upgrades are available for an additional fee.

Marriage License Requirements
It would be terrible to plan a wonderful wedding that is not legal in the United States. Before planning the details of your wedding, make sure you get an understanding of the country's requirements to obtain a marriage license. Many resorts have wedding coordinators available to assist with the planning of your special day. One of the first orders of business is the securing of your marriage license. Most times the wedding coordinator will begin the process for you by requiring that you mail in paperwork well before you arrival to initiate the process. Also remember that these countries require residency (presence on their soil) for a certain time period before a couple can be married. As with everything else, there are ways to avoid this issue. If you are unable to meet a country's marriage license requirements, plan a civil ceremony before your wedding. Although you will be technically married, a symbolic ceremony can be held upon your arrival.

Planning a destination wedding is definitely a lot easier than planning a huge traditional wedding. The expenses associated with the ceremony itself are cut drastically with this option. Effective planning and organization will ensure any destination wedding is a success. What are you waiting on to get started planning YOUR special day?
