A Cheap-Beautiful Wedding Part 2 – The Cake

[ad_1]

Ah wedding cakes, what would the wedding day be with out the beautiful tiered wedding cake? What would wedding planning be without having to spend anywhere from $ 2.00- $ 5.00 for a slice for that beautiful cake ?, sounds about right … right? OKAY, STOP RIGHT THERE.

Perhaps there is a better way to thrill your guests with cake and not break the bank to do it.

Here are some wedding cake ideas to save some cash.

How about a smaller tiered cake and sheet cakes to make up the difference? Sheet cakes are cheaper and they do not have to be decorated. After the small tiered cake is cut the sheet cakes can be served.

If you are having a cake that calls for flowers use silk instead of real. They are removed anyway and both look equally beautiful.

Have cupcakes instead of cake. These can be put on cupcake stands or as with the sheet cakes they can be used along side of a small tiered cake.

Forget the tradition of saving the top tier of your cake for the one year anniversary. In a year that frozen cake is not going to taste very good and by using the top cake as part of the cake that is served you can save on how much cake you need. If you want to have a duplicate cake made for your first anniversary have the bakery bake you a fresh cake or if you must save cake from the wedding, for the anniversary how about a couple of slices instead of the whole top tier.

If the place where you are having your reception charges a cake cutting fee, have some relatives cut the cake for you. you might even consider a few older aunts or sometimes your bridesmaids. It gives them a job and it really is not that hard. For a good diagram of how to cut a wedding cake look online there are some great illustrated directions. Be sure to have sanitized gloves available. it is easier to cut the cake quickly when you can use your hands to pick up the pieces and no one wants to see that with out gloves.

And lastly remember when you choose your cake flavors some flavors are more expensive then others. Where I live danish layer cake is popular, but its also more expensive and remember Butter Cream Icing is cheaper then fondant and it also tastes better.
