A Simple Guide to Wedding Seating Charts

[ad_1]

A wedding seating chart shows your guests how they will be sorted. It tells who will share tables with what and how they will be arranged around. It looks very simple on the surface but if you consider the intricacies of the job, then you would realize that you need a lot of planning. There are many questions to ask and such as should couples sit against each other or side by side? Where should family members sit; with other guests or by themselves?

To organize your seating you first need to know about cards. These cards are the stationery that enables you to direct your guest to the right places.

An escort card is used to tell a guest where he has been assigned to sit. People usually put them at the entrance of the reception hall. It bears your guest's name. In a less formal way, you can print the seating chart and then paste or hang at the entrance where everyone enters can see. There are advantages and disadvantages with each type. If you print a chart then making changes is difficult whereas a card on at table can be removed and replaced in minutes. For ease of search and location, it is usually suggested that you print and arrange them in an alphabetical order.

The table card names the table. It is the number that a guest will see on the escort card. For this reason, the table card must bear the same name as it does on the escort card so guests do not get lost. If you have referred to the first table as Table One on the escort card, then do not label your first Table 1.

The name of the guest must be written in full to avoid any ambiguities and mistakes. Since many people will bear the same first names and last names, you should endeavor to print the name in full and add any other titles or credentials that will make each stand out.
