Planning a cheap wedding does not have to be intimidating or overwhelming. And being cheap or frugal when planning a wedding does not mean the wedding has to look "cheap." Plenty of weddings have been planned with a small budget and have also been some of the most elegant and moving weddings.

The first place a bride must start in putting together a plan for her wedding is to understand what elements of the wedding are most important to her. This could possibly be the dress, the flowers, the invitations, the food, the cake, etc. Once the bride realizes what means the most to her in making her day special then the decisions can be made on where to spend the money.

After the bride has made narrowed down the elements of the wedding that will require the most attention to detail and the largest part of the wedding budget then she is ready to make the next step. Logically the next step is then to figure out what part of the wedding can be completed as a do it yourself project. There are plenty of cheap wedding ideas that can be managed by the bridal party and friends that do not require a huge amount of the budget.

For example the flowers are one of the largest expenses of a wedding and can be the easiest to create yourself. Most bridal parties have at least one or 2 very creative minds that can take the lead on this effort. And please remember that simple can be elegant. Have you ever been to one of those weddings that had just a little too much of everything? Keep the wedding decorations simple because the bride should be the biggest decoration and provide the most beauty !!

Do it yourself weddings are wonderful. Saving money and planning a cheap wedding is actually less stressful when the day is come and gone. There is no need to put yourself or family into debt for your wedding. Try to be realistic, creative and focused. Keeping a clear and compromising head will always lead to a less stressful wedding and sticking to your cheap wedding plans will always keep you and your family's budget in a much better situation. Remember you are starting a new phase in your life with your husband and starting out in debt because of your wedding just looks silly!
