Wedding photos are all left after the ceremony. They tell what happened at the ceremony and could be the only permanent and tangible proof that an event ever took place. After paying that huge sum of money and making all those arrangements to get your wedding photograph, would you want to see the effort get destroyed? Certainly no.

We put together a few tips that would help you to reserve your photos and keep them in good condition.

First lets take a look at the nature of photo. You would realize that photos are very fragile pieces of paper. They can be easily destroyed, tainted or even defaced in everyday conditions like mishandling, poor storage, direct light, humidity and extreme temperature.

So it makes a good investment to keep your photos a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. If you have high temperatures, the photos can easily get destroyed. Mold can grow on the surface of the pictures and render them bad, or dew can accumulate on them and result in tainting.

Do not keep pictures at places where they can easily come into contact with sharp, abrasive, oily or mapping objects. For this reason, you should not keep your photos in the basement, attic or warehouse. The climatic conditions at these places are not controlled all that much and there can extreme heat which will make the shots brown or there can extreme cold resulting in dew.

Aside the room, consider the enclosures. Protect them from dust and other chemicals.

Many photos get destroyed each day due to poor handling. As much as possible, avoid holding the picture. If there are enclosures, hold the albums or hold the picture sheeting.

Now lets look at soiled photos. If a photo is soiled, use a damp cloth with some liquid soap to clean it. Ensure that the cloth is not wet, just damp. Wipe from the center of the photo and move outward. If it is dust that has accumulated on the picture, just brush to clear.
