Engagement Party – Kids Or No Kids?

[ad_1]

You could not be happier! Mr. Right finally popped the question (those 2 years of waiting and ever so subtly dropping hints has finally paid off!). At last you can start to realize all your plans for creating your dream wedding! First thing's first: the engagement party. The perfect event to celebrate your big news with those who are closest to you. You picture an elegant cocktail affair where champagne is flowing and everyone is dressed to the nines. There's only one problem … many of your family and friends have small children. Hmm … this could get sticky!

First, talk to your fiance and agree on the theme or style of the engagement party. Is he imagining a small, formal affair or did he have his heart set on a barbecue with every person you've ever met in attendance? If you agree on a more intimate, dressy gathering, it's time to get down to brass tacks … the guest list.

Spend some time and really consider who ideally you would like to attend your celebration. Make sure you do this with your fiance so you can avoid missing his best bud from middle school or his favorite cousin, Laura. How many of these people have small children? How would they react to an adults only get-together? Would any of them take advantage if their precious little Stevie was conspicuously absent from the invitation?

Take the pulse of your group. Perhaps even ask some friends' or family's opinion. Some people understand that some occasions are meant for adults only, while others can easily get feelings hurt. This is your special event and you want it to be perfect, but ask yourself if it is really worth ruffling some feathers over and causing ill intentions during such a happy time of your life. By doing a little homework, you'll know what's best for your group and you will create a memorable affair that people will be talking about for years to come!
