Step 1
Set Monthly, Weekly and Daily Goals
The most important part of wedding preparation is making a plan before you start trying to accomplish any tasks. Countless brides make the same mistake. They think they know what they want so they start scheduling appointments and spending money. If you make this mistake you will both overspend and waste time.
The first thing you need to do is make a list of everything that needs to get done. This is a common planning technique but you need to add one more step. Some tasks have to be completed before others. For example, you need to send out invitations before you need to have the cake finished. Write a date next to each item or task. This date should represent when this task needs to be completed. Grab a calendar and assign every task to a specific month. At the beginning of each month take the monthly tasks and decide which week you will work on each task.
Once you have established your weekly tasks you can set your daily goals. At the beginning of each week, take the time to sit down and plan what you need to accomplish each day. Keep in mind that you will be stressed and tired. Do not schedule more than you can handle. Once you have accomplished your daily tasks, stop working and take the rest of the night off.
If you spend time making plans you will have a specific time for each of your wedding tasks. This will prevent a great deal of stress as you plan. The key to saving time is being organized. Organizing and making a plan takes time but what people don’t realize is that in the long run it will save you countless hours.
Step 2
Find Help
Your wedding planning experience will be both faster and more enjoyable if you have loved ones that are willing to help. If you are a busy person it is going to be close to impossible to plan an entire wedding on your own. Your family and friends will be willing to help. All you need to do is ask.
Step 3
Don’t waste time on the little things and do the important things first
There are so many things that need to be done throughout the next few months of your life. As you plan for your big day you will not have time for everything. Decide what is important and what is not. Do not spend time on anything that is not a priority until all priorities are completed.
As you approach your special day you will have a lot on your mind. If you remember these principles you will have less stress, more time and you will save thousands of dollars. Making a plan is the most important step in your wedding preparations. Work hard and enjoy this special time.
