So your man finally popped the big question and you said “Yes!!” Now the fun begins… And the stress! You and your fiance should start on your “To Do List” right away, since many items for your wedding day may need to be scheduled far in advance! Having a well thought-out plan will greatly reduce wedding day stress.
Here is just a short list of things to think about now:
Location: Do you want a church wedding or an outdoor wedding? Either way, you should plan on reserving the location several months in advance, or you may end up getting married in your backyard! (Then again, maybe you have a nice backyard.)
Photographer: Do you have a favorite photographer who has done your family portraits? If you want this person to shoot your wedding, you should tell them soon, since a good photographer puts a lot of time into a wedding shoot and will usually only do one a day.
Catering: If you plan on having a meal catered at your reception, this is another item that you should address soon. If you wait to long, the caterer will have to hire additional staff at the last minute, and this will definitely cost you a lot more!
Music: Are you planning on a band or a DJ at your reception? Either one will require advanced reservation. (Unless you want to settle for Uncle Frank playing his Tuba!)
These are just a few of the things you will deal with while preparing for your big day. You also have the invitations, flowers, rental equipment, the rings and oh, yes! The dress! Did I forget anything? Of course I did! Hey, this is only a one page article!
The best advice I can give is to find a good wedding planning guide. There are several great guides available online. (See the link below.) A good planning guide helps you outline what has to be done, and when it has to be done. This will definitely help to reduce wedding day stress!
A planning guide will also help you save hundreds or even thousands of dollars on your wedding, with money saving tips and tricks to reduce the costs. In addition, a good guide will show you how to deal with vendors, and negotiate the best rates on many items you will need for your very special day!
