As brides-to-be, you will find yourself looking for information and guides on the Internet. Internet has indeed made information much easier to access and current information is updated instantaneously.
There are many wedding vendors who have placed their information on the websites to increase their coverage and to provide current information. Brochures and flyers seem to the thing of the past.
One powerful tool these days are the message boards or forums that are linked to the wedding websites and provide a channel for brides-to-be or grooms-to-be to post their questions and get them answered. This is a fast growing phenomenon.
These boards have pros and cons. You may get 'real' advice form those who has done it and has a proven methodology in the wedding planning. You might get some information regarding the wedding vendors and who are the recommended ones.
One word of advice from me, read through these message boards or forums with an open mind. Do not take what is said in its entity. Do note that there might be some prejudice or bias in the comments. Of course, there might be some warning signs on these boards that you can take into account of.
Why do I say this? Some may have bad experiences with particular vendors and may post their unhappiness on the web. Remember news travel fast. The particular vendor you might be talking about might be reading these boards too. So if you are really happy with the caterer or the photographer you have engaged, do talk things through with them instead of posting negative comments about them. Do note that there are some issues which can be solved in an amicable manner. Sometimes it might be your own issue that you might be asking for too many things at a short notice and the vendors can not deliver it.
These forums or message boards can be a place where you can share your woes and seek advice with, minus the bad things you might want to comment on your fiancé, friends and family. The boards can provide a source of comfort at times when you realize that you are not the only one who faces the similar problem alone. Do exercise some discretion and you might find them a useful tool in your wedding planning, especially when you need advice on wedding destinations or honeymoon venues!
