When planning your wedding, one of the first things that you need to do is to decide exactly what type of wedding you need. Although many people decide on a theme, this is not really necessary at least in the early stages. But an overall "feel" is something that you will want to decide with your partner.
It may be that you wish to have quite an upscale, up-market type of wedding where everything is of good quality and presentable in the extreme. On the other hand, you may prefer to have something that is more functional and practical and which reflects your own particular lifestyle.
You may wish to have an undering plan which is quite laid back and jovial. Perhaps something that is easy on the eye and which encompasses the thoughts and feelings of the group of guests as a whole rather than just the individuals that are planning the wedding.
Whichever you wish, it is wise to sit down with your partner and seek each other's opinions. You may be surprised as to what the other person is thinking and exactly how they wish the wedding plans to evolve.
Why not each sit down with an A4 sheet of paper and write down what things you think are important to a successful wedding and which reflect your own ideals and desires? It is remarkable how often people do this and realize that the other person was not thinking exactly what they were expected to think!
By doing this, it is easier to reach a compromise situation that will encompass the thoughts and feelings of both of you plus any other people that you decide to include in the planning process. By having a clear goal and target, you will be able to plan your wedding better.
Do not be afraid to seek the views of others and to ask how others would do things differently if they were in the same position.
