One of the most expensive affairs that a couple are likely to face in their lives is their wedding. However as more couples become aware of the effect that we are having on our planet more and more are preferring to have a green wedding instead of the more traditional one. Certainly if you are interested in having a green wedding yourself in the future there are certain things, which you can do.
Below we take a look at a number of different things that will not only make sure that the day itself is perfect. But which will also not have too adverse an affect on the planet as well.
1. Invitations – Rather than going for the more expensive lavishly designed ones instead opt for those, which are made using recycled paper. Or if you have, the time then why not actually try making the paper for your invitations yourself.
2. Gifts – Because many couples often are living together before they marry, they actually have plenty of the items that they would need for their home. So rather than asking for the usual kinds of wedding gifts ask the guests to donate money to a charity that is actively working to protect the environment.
3. Wedding Attire – I know we all like to look special on our day but if you can and surely, if you are on a limited budget then why not rent or buy wedding attire that have been previously used. However, if you are still after your own special style of wedding dress there are plenty of companies who now make them using only organic materials.
4. Wedding Jewelry – No longer do you have to stick with the more traditional gold band for your wedding ring instead why not go for something a little more eco friendly. There are plenty of jewelry sites on the internet, which offers such items, and in some cases cost a fraction of what a gold wedding band will be.
5. Wedding Reception – When it comes to the wedding reception venue if you can choose a location that is close to where you live. This means that people will have far less traveling to do and so the amount of carbon emissions that their vehicles are producing are greatly reduced.
Along with the tips, we have provided above there are plenty of other things that one can do to ensure that your wedding is a green affair. When it comes to the flowers for your big day go for those that have been grown locally if at all possible and also look for those that are grown using only organic methods. Also, why not reuse the floral arrangements that were at your green wedding at the reception afterwards. All you need to do is arrange for them to be taken to the venue where the reception is being held. In fact, why not get one person from each group of people to take one to the reception with them.
