The Groom’s Role in Wedding Planning

[ad_1]

When planning a wedding the role of the groom sometimes gets overlooked. Typically the bride is the captain of the planning process, taking the lead with organizing what needs to be done and when it should be done by. I am not saying the groom should uninvolved in planning. It is his special day too. But, in reality, most men would prefer to leave things like choosing flowers and centerpieces or selecting the perfect invitation up to their soon to be bride. Most men would rather be apart on what is important to them- the drinks, the food, and the entertainment.

But, having the bride take the lead with most of the wedding planning doesn’t leave the groom off the hook entirely. Grooms have some important tasks of their own to complete. For instance, thanking all the groomsmen for an unforgettable bachelor party, for dressing up in a tux or suit on the wedding day, for walking down the aisle with one of the not so attractive bridesmaids, and for being there to offer support throughout this big step in the groom’s life.

Typically the groom shows his appreciation to the groomsmen by presenting them with a gift the day of the wedding. The gift does not have to be something extravagant and expensive, especially when the budget is already tight with all the wedding costs.

The best way to find a meaningful and unique groomsmen gift is to brainstorm what the guy’s interests are. Considering not all the groomsmen enjoy the same activities, it is good to take a general consensus. If five out of seven love to golf, then you are pretty safe going with a golf gift. The two that are not into golf will understand, or you could even get them something different in the same price range.

A few ideas for gifts are drinking accessories, business accessories, sports gifts, or smoking accessories.

Drinking accessories include an engraved flask, a set of pint glasses, a case of specialty beers, or a bottle of quality whiskey or scotch.

Business accessories include an engraved specialty pen or pencil, a tie clip or cuff links, Masonic jewelry, or a business card holder.

Sports accessories include tickets to a baseball or hockey game, a set of nice golf balls and tees, a round of golf at a nearby course, or a flying or racecar driving lesson.

Other ideas are a money clip, a credit card holder, a restaurant gift card, or a massage gift card.

Whatever is decided, just remember that the groomsman gift is the part of the wedding planning that the groom gets to run with on their own. They know their groomsmen best and choosing a gift to thank the guys for all their help and support is something that every groom should take pride in!
