Tips For Choosing a Wedding Planner

[ad_1]

Between work, school and everything else life hands you on a day-to-day basis, and the sheer number of hours necessary to plan a wedding (average of 200-250 hours!), Most couples just do not have the extra time and energy needed to plan their weddings while avoiding stress and headaches along the way. But help is close by in the form of a Professional Wedding Planner. A Wedding Planner is a wonderful asset as she (or he) has the information, resources, and experience to help you enjoy the whole wedding planning process and achieve the wedding of your dreams.

When interviewing potential Wedding Planners (also known as Bridal Consultants, Wedding Consultants and Wedding Coordinators), look for the following:

Make sure she has training training and experience in wedding planning. Just having planned her own wedding (or a sisters' or friend's) is not enough. Am I saying that your sister or friend who is already married will not be a great help? Not at all! But she is not a professional, and will not have the experience to pull it all together or to handle those behind-the-scenes emergencies that often come up.

Make sure she is associated with a wedding consultant organization (such as June Bride, The Association of Bridal Consultants, and the Association for Wedding Professionals International). This shows a true interest and dedication to her "craft," and that she views it as being something more than just a "hobby."

Make sure this is her job, and not just a hobby, or something she does after she gets home from her day job. You want her to have the time for you.

Make sure she is not the "in house" consultant for another type of wedding vendor (such as a venue, baker or florist). Her # 1 priority should always be to you, and not to any other vendor.

She should not be the photographer who also does wedding consulting, or the dj who also does wedding consulting … She CAN NOT be in more than one place at a time, and doing two different things at a time. Her focus will be divided, and it will show!

As far as price, look for someone who will work with you and your budget. Not everyone's budget will be matched to a consultant's full service package, but it should be able offer some level of guidance that will be more comfortable to your budget.
