2. The groom pays for his bride's wedding and engagement rings, a gift for the bride and gifts for the groomsmen and housing costs if they are from out of town. He also pays for his tuxedo and accessories along with any flowers, boutonnieres, corsages, bouquets and flowers. He pays clergy fees, the marriage license and the cost of the honeymoon. That is really quite a bit for the groom, so these days, family members help to pick up some of those expenses.

3. The grooms parents are responsible for the rehearsal dinner.

4. The brides parents pay for the bride's gown, flowers for the reception and the wedding. They pay for the photographer, the reception expenses, food and drink, entertainment, the cake and any transportation expenses involved. If there is an engagement party, they would pay for that too. Further, they pay for invitations, thank you notes and postage.

5. The bridesmaids pick up the cost of their own dresses, the bridal shower, their own traveling expenses and the bachelorette party.

6. The groomsmen pay for their own clothing and travel to the wedding and the bachelor party.

These are the traditional expectations, but in these days of economic troubles, the responsibilities are being spread around to make the cost lower for each person and his or her family. In fact, a lot of times, the couple themselves pay for their wedding plans. This too should be planned in advance so there will be no surprises for anyone.

Having a plan and sticking to it also keeps couples and families from arguing later on and everyone will know what to expect. The plan should be discussed with everyone involved as early as possible. These are the things that will help to make your day stress free and memorable.
