To build a successful business within any industry requires a fair amount of planning from the very beginning. When it comes to wedding marketing you need to develop a plan which will help you to target your clients and grow your business within a highly competitive industry. Your marketing plan does not need to be a long and complex document, on the contrary, it simply needs to identify your business goals and help you to form a plan of action for the future.
Wedding marketing plans need to include short and concise points which are easy to read and identify. Simplicity is key to producing a marketing plan which you can continue to refer to as your business starts to grow. Key points which you should include are:
* Your Mission: this should be a short statement about what your business is about and where you want it to go. Try to avoid meaningless buzz words or phrases and instead choose words which lend clarity to what you are trying to achieve.
* Your Objectives: What are your goals? What do you need to do to accomplish them? How will you achieve
* your mission? Remember objectives will change as your business grows so this is one area of your wedding marketing that you will need to update on a regular basis.
* Your Strategies: How will you attract new business? How do you intend to reach new brides? What are your back-up plans if things do not work out as you intended? Always have alternative methods of achieving your goals planned out.
* Your steps to Action: What do you want to achieve on a daily, weekly and monthly basis? Using small steps in the beginning can help you to achieve your bigger, long term goals.
Staying on Course: Plan your steps to action with achievable deadlines.
* Your Daily Tasks: This is an extension of your marketing plan and you should consider these on a daily or weekly basis. As you embark on a new project, break it down into manageable steps to help you achieve the project goals and meet your targets. Just be careful about producing lists of tasks which include vague calls to action, such as 'attend bridal shows' which does not give you any actionable steps.
When it comes to producing agendas or daily task sheets within your wedding marketing plan you need to itemize them with actionable steps or instructions which can be easily followed. For instance:
1. Research local bridal fairs via the internet
2. Contact at least 10 local shows for more information on setting up a stand
3. Visit at least five shows to discover more information on how they work
4. Obtain contact information from other businesses at the shows which are not related to my own
5. Contact these businesses to ask their opinion on the show
Once you have produced your agendas or list of actionable tasks then you need to make sure you carry out each task as you have set out. Many businesses spend much time and effort creating such task lists only to never act upon them and instead to file them away. As you accomplish each task keep a record of it plus any notes you feel would be helpful for future lists. Each month schedule a time to sit down and review your task lists along with all the tasks you have completed and your additional notes. Ask yourself what works well? Where improvements could be made? Was a particular task worth the effort?
A good wedding marketing plan needs to be acted upon and needs to be regularly reviewed to keep it up to date and actionable in terms of your growing business. By being diligent and monitoring your progress on a regular basis you will continue to grow and expand your business as you identify new goals and objectives.
