In the old traditional sense, the 1 year wedding anniversary gifts tended to be those of paper. Most people would often give a 1 year couple things like letter head and other paper related items. These of course were accepted, but not usually loved unless there was something truly special about the particular gift. If you are planning on giving a 1 year gift to a couple, due to the fact that a house can really only contain so many clocks, when going with modern gifts it is important to take the time to speak to the others invited to the celebration to make sure that you are not vying for the same type of clock. Otherwise the couple may end up with one that may never be used. If this cannot be arranged though, make the simple choice to opt for a more traditional paper gift instead.
