Building a list of subscribers is a very good idea for more reasons than one. List building makes much better use of the traffic coming to your site. There is money savings to be had on your advertising budget and you get more than the one opportunity to sell or promote products or services to your subscribers.

And yes, if you are using article marketing as your traffic generation strategy then the time you have sent writing and submitting articles has a tangible value attached to it. Secondly, sending your website visitors to a sales page each time you have a product to promote is not really sustainable as you are always looking for fresh traffic each time. Of course this may not be the case for a huge corporation but even then it will not be money well spent if a list is not considered.

Advertising costs money and it is commonly known that it often takes about 7 visits to your sales page before someone makes up their mind to make a purchase. At the end of the day very few people will come back to your website that number of times except of course they are already on your list. You have to keep reminding people to visit and take a look at what you have on offer.

Now once people are on your list you are in a far better position to build a relationship with the visitors to your website. You can then send them to various sales pages, free gifts and any other resources that will help them with their online endeavors. This means from each buyer you could make multiple sales. You now have the opportunity of exposing your subscribers to the products in your sales funnel. Of course you will be looking for the ones that match your subscribers needs.

Clearly the opportunity to expose the people on your email list to an array of products and save on your advertising bill would simply not happen if you were to relly on that one time visit to your web page where only about 2% would buy anyway. Losing 98% of people coming to your website really is a huge waste and building an email database is the best strategy in my opinion to deal with this.
