Is your dream to have a beach themed destination wedding? Well, once the parents here about this, many are not too pleased. They want you to have a traditional type wedding so all family and friends can be invited. At a destination wedding the budget may not be there for many guests and will not be able to attend.
If you have decided to forgo this dream and hold your reception in your hometown then do not worry because we can bring the beach theme party to you.
You can have a lot of fun with the invitations that represent a beach theme. Look for colors of the sky, sea and palm trees. You could even ask your guests to dress in island wear!
First, you may want to go with crisp white linens and use the colors of ocean, sea blue and emerald greens as accent colors. Centerpieces can be large glass cylinders filled with sand and sea shells with alternating centerpieces of clear round glass bowl with turquoise blue water and a floating candle. For the seating set up a sandbox using sea shells to place your cards with the name of your guest in them. Instead of table numbers, name each table after a Caribbean Island. Speak with a pastry Chef to make a 3 tier white wedding cake with blue waves on the outside of the cake. For the favors, you can purchase colored chocolate tropical fish, small sand pals filled with candy or starfish candles. Just Google this and you will find an assortment of great favor ideas.
When it's time to kiss at the reception, provide a fish bowl with rod and the guests have to fish out the card inside the bowl and do what the card says for you to kiss.
For the bar, come up with a cool beach signature drinks like, Margaritas, pina colada, mojito, or other tropical drinks with those small decorative umbrellas and serve to the guests when they arrive. Shop around for a tiki hut bar. I have used them before and they are just perfect for this occasion. Sit with the Chef and design a menu with appetizers such as shrimp cocktail and sushi and then for dinner, how about items like surf and turf and key lime pie for dessert. Always remember though, you need to please everyone's taste palates so be careful when selecting your menu.
End the evening with a chocolate buffet station with trays of tropical fruit placed inside a clam shell ice sculpture. Have the DJ or band play some great island music.
Even though you may not be in a Caribbean resort, you are at a place you can call home with all of your family and friends. These are memories that will stay with you for a lifetime. By the way ….. just book that honeymoon to a warm tropical island so now you have the best of both worlds.
