Big Wedding Small Budget – 10 Ways to Think Big and Save Money

"Ten Commandments"

The first step is to make a list of what the most important things to be included in the wedding. Make a list of 10 items starting from the most important and once the list is done, leave off the last 5 items as extra and stick to the top 5 major aspects of your wedding day.

"The budget-conscious"

Once a budget has been set, focus on what is worth splurging the money on and what will not be missed. For instance, you may both decide to buy the wedding dress but rent the tux instead. That way, the bride will be happy to keep her gown as a wonderful remembrance and the groom will be happy because his wife will not hate him for cutting the cost on her gown!

"DIY"

Some of the few things not exactly worth splurging your precious money on are the invitations and souvenirs. It actually is more meaningful and would be highly appreciated if guests will learn that you did these things from scratch and by yourself.

"You've got a friend"

Instead of hiring a professional photographer or videographer, why not enlist the help of a friend? You may also ask help in providing the music or helping with the make-up. You're really a lucky one if you have a friend who knows how to bake a wedding cake, too!

"Stop and smell the flowers"

In choosing flowers, make sure that you ask the florist what actually is in season. By doing so, you have already saved by buying something that is cheaper than buying out-of-season flowers, which are a lot more expensive.

"Garden Wedding"

If you're not very particular with the wedding venue, choose a garden for your wedding. You will have saved a lot already on lights and decorations, as well as, minimal rental fee if none at all.

"Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall?"

Being okay with any wedding season is of an advantage to a couple. Opt to get married in winter because there is low demand for weddings during this season. If not winter, choose a Sunday wedding instead since again, there is a lower demand during this day cutting costs further.

"Food for thought"

One of the largest expenses in a wedding is the food. You may cut cost in this aspect by serving slices of the wedding cake instead of serving a different desert, which is typical in most weddings. What are you going to do with a whole, huge wedding cake at home anyway?

"Car-less Whisper"

One nice touch of a wedding is the transport that will bring the blushing bride to the venue. But instead of renting a limo, why not rent a different brand car that's as nice but will cost less or just borrow a car from a friend which will bring the cost down to zero.

"A toast to the happy couple"

Instead of toasting with champagne, which can get quite expensive, use white wine instead. Or be imaginative and unique by making your own wine. Some vineyards consented to making your own wine which will cut the cost across the board.
